Our Vision

To be Africa’s most valuable organization in strengthening “data for impact” and create opportunity for early career data professionals through strong partnerships

Why Helix?

Government statistics has been used for a long time as the cornerstone of the evidence needed to generate informed debate, however, there is a gap in understanding all of today’s users and potential uses of statistics. Aditionally, there are Increasing amount and range of statistics that are relevant to the public and industry but are not official statistics. This makes it difficult to deliver data information for general public. Helix analytics’ collaboration with data governance institutions helps in supporting access and quality in the wider data information world. By supporting application of the code of practice and development of protocols for assessment of non-officialsources,the governance institutions support access to data and analytics beyond their scope.

The Concept of Public Insights

  • Analytics produced by non-official organizations, not covered by government but apply formal standards (Code) of Practice. An Output that does not come from a government department or government-related body, local or devolved authority, or an official international reporting body
  • Moving beyond Statistics to Statistical Analysis. The distinction between data and statistics to statistical products. The move towards more coherent statistical analysis, not just the publication of individual sets of statistics.
  • Recognizing the increasingly complex data ecosystem as an opportunity for more timely, relevant and above all useful statistics
